Asthma Telephone Review Protocol

1. Check how many preventer inhalers the patient has had in the last year:
2. >6: book in for face to face appointment
3. If they refuse an appointment read code on system, ‘Asthma annual review’, and note, ‘refused f2f’
4. <6 continue with phone assessment
5. Ask 3 questions
6. If patient YES to any then book in for a review with nurse
7. Take this opportunity to assess smoking status
8. Set a recall date for 1 year on
9. Reauthorise asthma medication for 1 year
10. Read code: Asthma Annual Review
11. Add any extra notes to a consultation under the examination box
